Firemans Association Helps Local Family

On Saturday morning, March 1, 2008 a fire destroyed Myra Shelton's house on Orrin Avenue Southwest. She and her daughter escaped with their lives.

Fortunately for her, there are several angels in her life. The Winter Haven Firemans Association, along with several area corporations, churches, and individuals came to her aid. Area corporations donated either money, time or materials. Churches donated clothes and food. A homeowner donated rental property for Myra and her daughter to live in until their new house  was completed. Unfortunately her duaghter would not live to see the new house. She passed away on April 18th, six months after doctors discoverd a malignant brain tumor. Private citizens donated over $2700 to help Myra and her family.
